Compostable Packaging: How We Ship Sustainably (Without More Plastic)

Why packaging matters to us

At Dancing Cub Farm, we’re serious about health—from the microgreens we grow to the choices we make behind the scenes. Packaging is part of that. We want your order to arrive safely and beautifully, but we don’t want to add unnecessary plastic to the world in the process.

Our packaging is compostable (with one exception)

We use 100% compostable packaging for everything we ship—except our tortilla chips. We’ve worked hard to choose materials that align with our values, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come.

Why the chips are the exception (for now)

Right now, truly compostable packaging options for chips are limited—and the options we’ve tested don’t keep chips as fresh and crisp as they should be. We won’t compromise on quality or food safety, so for chips we currently use packaging that protects freshness. As better compostable options become available, we plan to switch.

Why we chose compostable over plastic

Plastic is convenient, but it comes with a long-term cost. Compostable materials help reduce waste while still protecting your food. For us, it’s about aligning our shipping practices with the same values that make microgreens special: freshness, care, and doing the most good we can.

How to dispose of our packaging (simple guide)

If you compost at home, compost what you can there. If you have access to a local composting program, that’s often the best option for compostable packaging. If you’re not sure what your area accepts, start with what you know your system can handle.
